TRE4HealthAI

2024–2027 ongoing Data governance and policy; white paper co-author with Industry Commons Foundation, Chalmers Industriteknik

A Vinnova project building a Trusted Research Environment for developing and testing health AI on sensitive data, safely.

TRE4HealthAI, the Trusted Research Environment for Health AI advancement, is a Vinnova-funded Swedish project coordinated by Chalmers Industriteknik, running from 2024 to 2027. It builds a multi-partner trusted research environment in which AI for healthcare can be developed and tested on sensitive health data without compromising it: federated learning, synthetic data generation and regulatory sandboxes, aligned with the GDPR, the AI Act and the European Health Data Space, proven through a system demonstrator with healthcare pilots.

The partnership spans Swedish health AI: AI Sweden, AstraZeneca, the University of Gothenburg, Karolinska Institutet, Mölnlycke Health Care, Region Halland, RISE, SciLifeLab, SynData, Vectura, Västra Götalandsregionen, and the Industry Commons Foundation, which carries the data governance, policy and regulatory analysis, drawing on its JUST Data practice. Dubber co-authored the project’s public white paper, “Advancing Trusted Research Environments for Healthcare AI” (2025), with Ivo Emanuilov, Björn Larsson and Michela Magas.
