euroFMX

2026–2030 ongoing Industry Commons Foundation partner with Industry Commons Foundation, Politecnico di Milano

A €45 million Horizon Europe programme building trustworthy generative AI and autonomisation frontier models for European manufacturing.

euroFMX, in full “European TrUstworthy GeneRative AI & AutonOmisation Frontier Models for Manufacturing-X Competitiveness”, is one of the larger bets Horizon Europe has placed on industrial AI: a four-year programme from June 2026 to May 2030 with an EU contribution of €45 million, around seventy organisations from twenty countries, coordinated by Politecnico di Milano.

Its ambition is a European ecosystem of trustworthy generative AI and autonomisation frontier models for manufacturing, moving the sector from factory automation towards factory autonomisation. The work spans four pillars: industrial AI autonomy at scale, workforce skilling through a GenAI Academy, digital sovereignty through privacy-preserving data spaces and AI factories, and frontier model optimisation, tested through ten industrial pilots with companies including Bosch, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Philips and Leonardo, with €10 million in open calls for further participants from 2027.

The Industry Commons Foundation is a beneficiary, carrying ethical, legal and regulatory compliance work into the pilot programmes, contributing to the project’s knowledge graph and data product work, and building the EU-wide community around the programme. The project grew in part out of the completed RE4DY consortium.
