Framtidsreceptet, Swedish for “the recipe for the future”, was an open innovation programme on the challenge of a more sustainable plate of food, run by MTF Labs in partnership with the northern Swedish bakery group Polarbröd. Anyone could submit an idea, in text, audio or video; the promise on the tin was “your idea remains yours”.

Submitted ideas were developed with designers, food scientists, technologists and makers from the MTF community into prototypes and concept storyboards across three phases branded Seed, Growth and Harvest, with Polarbröd championing the strongest towards products, research projects or ventures. The programme launched with a video booth at the European Youth Parliament meeting in Stockholm in November 2023, ran labs at Polarbröd in Umeå, and closed its submission cycle in January 2024 with a Stockholm showcase where five projects were demonstrated to food industry representatives, innovators and investors, several of which were taken forward.
