Un-Convention
2008–present ongoing Co-founder
A grassroots music industry event series, co-founded in 2008, that has run more than a hundred events on five continents.
Un-Convention was founded in 2008 as the opposite of the music industry conference it was named against: events built for the grassroots and independent sector rather than the corporate one, run in cities the industry circuit ignored, with the people who actually make and release music at the centre of the room.
Dubber co-founded the series, which has gone on to hold more than one hundred and ten events on five continents, from its Salford beginnings to editions across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. Its DNA, the conviction that a gathering of practitioners outworks a trade show, runs recognisably through the later work in this archive, from MTF Labs onwards.
