Monkey on the Roof
2010–2011 completed Project lead with Ian Wallman, Jez Collins, Music Basti
An album made in Delhi with street children and the charity Music Basti, released with all proceeds to the children's programmes.
Monkey on the Roof is an album made in Delhi with children living in care homes and on the city’s streets, through the music education charity Music Basti and its founder Faith Gonsalves. Dubber led the project, travelling to Delhi with producer Ian Wallman and colleague Jez Collins to run recording workshops in which the children wrote and performed their own songs.
The album was released in June 2011 on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis, with every rupee going back to Music Basti’s programmes, and the sessions were documented extensively on video. The relationship with Music Basti continued through The 360 Deal, whose proceeds went to the same charity. The album remains playable and purchasable on Bandcamp.
