Urban Disturbance in Broadcasting House

2010 completed Writer and presenter with Sam Coley

A two-part radio documentary on Zane Lowe, tracing his path from Auckland hip hop to BBC Radio 1's premier new music show.

Urban Disturbance in Broadcasting House is a two-part radio documentary about Zane Lowe: how a kid from Auckland’s hip hop scene, one half of the group Urban Disturbance, ended up as Britain’s premier purveyor of new music on BBC Radio 1, with an evening show commanding more than two million listeners and a fair claim to the title of New Zealand’s most successful broadcaster.

Part one follows the Auckland years and the musical upbringing; part two follows the leap, from New Zealand to the United States and eventually to England and the BBC. Dubber wrote and presented the documentary, which was produced by Sam Coley and broadcast in April 2010, airing in New Zealand on RNZ’s Musical Chairs strand. Both parts are playable here.
